Final Fantasy XI appears to be alive and (mostly) well. Even with the shadow of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn looming on the horizon, the newest expansion for Square Enix's freshman MMORPG effort is here and promises new jobs, new areas, and other newness (TM). But what about the music?

In keeping with tradition, Square Enix delegated the task of composing music for their venerable MMO to series veteran Naoshi Mizuta, a personal favorite composer of mine. What does this mean for the soundtrack? Rhythm Encounter co-captain and Atelier-flavored coffee aficionado Derek Heemsbergen has the skinny.
