E3 2013 First Look: Black Gold
Texas Tea.
06.17.13 - 9:27 PM

Snail Games has a reputation for building MMOs with unique settings, and Black Gold is their latest MMORPG to offer something other than fantasy or sci-fi. The world of Black Gold is a steam punk setting with two warring factions, each with a unique race in addition to the humans.

Black Gold boasts large PVP arenas and incredibly visceral and entertaining action-based combat, of which the steam-operated mecha and tanks play a large part. In my time with the game I was able to engage many other players in a steam-engine robot and also had the chance to fight in a large boss encounter.

Along with their Chinese-influenced MMO Age of Wushu, which has a more traditional play style and is getting its first PVP-based expansion pack soon, Snail Games' offerings has something to satisfy everyone. While no definitive release date for Black Gold has been released, Snail Games is sparing no expense to promote their latest endeavor, and it's something to be on the look out for in the coming months.
