Japan Expo: Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster To Feature New Epilogue, Cross-Saves
Well, now isn't this interesting...
07.04.13 - 1:41 PM

Today's Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster news is a mix of the expected and unexpected. Let's start with what we had hoped was coming, but was yet unconfirmed: Cross-saving. On the PlayStation 3, Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is being released in one package; the PS Vita is getting each game as standalone titles. If you choose to pick up all of them (and you will, right?), you'll be happy to know that save files on one version will copy to the other. It's things like this that make all this cross play stuff so enticing, isn't it?

More interestingly, Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is gaining a new scenario that's available after completing both games. This 30-minute audio drama takes place two years after the finale of Final Fantasy X-2. A preview at Japan Expo featured Tidus - specifically, English version actor James Arnold Taylor - narrating the events. This scenario is being written by Kazushige Nojima, who co-wrote Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, not to mention Final Fantasy VII, VIII, Kingdom Hearts and so many more.

The reasoning behind this addition is unclear. It could simply be one more perk to the package, to entice fans to pick it up. But we'll be curious what's revealed in the event, because Final Fantasy X-2 was one of now many instances in which Square Enix has created direct sequels to its beloved franchise.

Given that Expo-goers were treated to an English version of this audio drama, it's probably safe to say it will be included in the North American versions of Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster later this year.
