More Info, Media on the Final Fantasy XIV & Lightning Returns Collaboration
Plenty of screens, video, and details on how to dress Lightning as a Miqo'te and more!

Square Enix today revealed more information on the crossover content coming to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. We'll start with the already-released FFXIV, which will see players fighting along side Lightning in a special, limited-time FATE (Full Active Time Event). Based on the newly-released video below, it seems we can look forward to fighting a Final Fantasy XIII-styled Behemoth, Juggernaut, as well as XIII's mechanical-styled Bahamut:

At some point during the event, Lightning will also be joined by her version of Odin, as seen below. Conquering the FATE gives players a chance to earn one of several weapons modeled after those found on the cast of Final Fantasy XIII, including Snow's ice... scythe... thing from Lightning Returns. You may also score Lightning or Snow's outfit from FFXIII (though interestingly, not those seen in Lightning Returns). The first screen below shows several races and genders outfitted in this gear. Be sure to check out our Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn gallery for many more images.

We also got a closer look at the Lightning Returns side of this collaboration. In addition to a hidden Miqo'te costume for Lightning, certain side quests will also offer swords & shields themed after Final Fantasy XIV's city states of Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ul'dah. See images of some of these below, and several more in our gallery:

The FFXIII-themed FATE is expected to start appearing in Eorzea in November to coincide with Lightning Returns' release in Japan later that month. That said, Square Enix has not specified a start date in North America yet. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is available now on PC and PlayStation 3, and is coming to PlayStation 4 next year. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII comes to PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 21st in Japan, February 11th in North America, and February 14th in Europe.
