Kadokawa Corporation Acquiring From Software Developers
Dark Souls development team now owned by the manga giant Kadokawa.
04.29.14 - 10:07 PM

From Software, the development team behind Dark Souls II and the Armored Core franchise, is set to be acquired by Kadokawa Corporation on May 21st. Best known in the west for publishing manga titles (Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi Muyo!), Kadokawa Corporation has stated that they are in the market to become a “global comprehensive media group” and plans to do so with this purchase.

Fans of the two series listed above can rest easy though. This move means that From Software will not only gain a huge amount of funding, but also the backing of a large corporation looking to expand itself into the gaming world even further. This could also mean that future titles will have an easier time being published in both Eastern and Western markets. Kadokawa Corporation, also known for its forays into the mobile device market, could choose to utilize the development team in that direction as well.

However you look at it, exciting things are happening for developers From Software, and we hope to see more amazing content from them soon!
