Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer + Agito Coming to VitaPlus, Tetsuya Nomura leaves the FFXV project!09.17.14 - 10:56 PM
At long last, Square Enix has broken their relative radio silence on the saga of Final Fantasy XV
. At this year's Tokyo Game Show, the company announced that Square Enix veteran Tetsuya Nomura has left the project in order to focus on directorial duties of Kingdom Hearts III
(joy explosion). In the wake of his departure, co-director Hajime Tabata (Final Fantasy Type-0
) has been upgraded to full director of the project "as it moves towards completion."
Alongside the news of Tabata's new role came a brand new trailer for the long-awaited title. The trailer showcases a variety of environments and stars the game's so-far all-male cast as they drive around in a fancy car and fight monsters in lush forests, all to the tune of Yoko Shimomura's (Kingdom Hearts) original music. Check out the trailer (and listen to the fabulous music) below!
On the heels of that announcement also came the revelation that Final Fantasy Agito, originally tied to mobile devices, will also see a release on the PlayStation Vita. Released this past year in Japan, the portable RPG serves as a prequel to the upcoming Final Fantasy Type-0. The game will be offered both as a free-to-play downloadable title with microtransactions and as a packaged retail product, running 3,800 JPY. A trailer for the upcoming Vita version, due for release on January 15, 2015 in Japan, can also be peeped below.
