Josh Curry
Hyrule Warriors Design to Influence Next Zelda Game
Hope you like big bosses and open worlds.

In an interview with Technobubble, Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma was asked what elements from Hyrule Warriors he would like to incorporate into the upcoming title for Wii U. His response offered some exciting possibilities:

"One aspect of Hyrule Warriors that really left a big impression on me was how the big bosses can actually move across the map while you're fighting them. For example, you can have a boss start by heading toward your stronghold and you'll attack and then follow them. That's something you don't usually see in a Zelda game because bosses are usually in enclosed spaces so that kind of gameplay feels fresh to me. It also works really well in an expansive world, which is what we're planning to do for the next Zelda game. It's going to be a really open world so that's the kind of gameplay we'd really like to incorporate."

Nintendo had already teased the prospect of big bosses and an open world, but this interview seems to confirm it. Big changes to the structure of the series were already made by The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and this trend seems like it will continue with the in development Wii U game. That latest 3DS title proves that bringing fresh elements to the series is wonderful thing; there is a lot to be excited about for Zelda on the Wii U.

There is no release date set for The Legend of Zelda for Wii U yet.
