Noctis Likely Joining Dissidia Final Fantasy in the Future
The distant future.
04.23.15 - 2:05 PM

In a recent Dengeki interview the minds behind Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade talked about some of the upcoming features for the Final Fantasy fighting game now undergoing location testing. When asked whether Noctis would join the roster they said they were "thinking about it, of course." Their considerations would include what weapon he would use (probably a Phantom Sword) and how to incorporate his signature warps. However, they noted that his inclusion would only happen after Final Fantasy XV is released.

Further, although Team Ninja is working on the project to provide technical know-how, the game will not include any characters from Dead or Alive or their other franchises. The developers felt it made more sense to limit the game's universe to Final Fantasy characters alone, given how many there are to choose from. There are also no current plans to utilize the "soft engine" for skin textures and character movement, although it may be added to the game later, perhaps once Tifa joins the party.

Dissidia Final Fantasy is in development for Japanese arcades, though a console release is also possible.
