Dark Souls III
will debut on consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox on March 24th in Japan. No word on if this will be an international release date has been found, but that announcement (along with a PC release date) is expected soon.
Dark Souls III will cost 6,930 yen ($57 USD or €51) for digital copies and 7,430 yen ($62 USD or €54) for physical copies. The extra money spent on the physical edition will not be going to waste for pre-orders of the game, as it will come with a special map and the official soundtrack.
A network test will be held in Japan for the PlayStation from October 16th through the 18th. Interested players can sign up to be part of the test up until October 4th.
In related news, developer From Software is getting ready to open up a brand new studio. The studio will be located in Fukuoka, Japan, and will "focus on creating 3D CG assets for games while working closely with the original studio in Tokyo." The company chose Fukuoka because of its surrounding areas and its close proximity to Tokyo. From Software hopes that the new studio will "contribute to build good development environments that lead them to greater quality and creativity."
The new studio is expected to be working in full operational capacity by January 2016. If you live in Japan (or are happy to relocate) and are interested in a career in game design, you can apply to join the From Software team.
