Deck13's The Surge Coming in 2017
A new action RPG from the people behind Lords of the Fallen.
03.07.16 - 9:28 PM

DONTNOD's Vampyr isn't the only new title Focus Home revealed recently. The publisher has another title on the way, and this one is from Deck13, the developers behind Lords of the Fallen. Despite Lords offering one of my favorite pullquotes on RPGFan with Rob's "Why do I do this?", The Surge seems promising, so we'll give them another shot.

The Surge is set on Earth in a dystopian future, and is described by Deck13 as:

Set on a dystopian Earth nearing the end of its life, The Surge offers a grim vision of our future. Accelerating advancements in technology and our abuse of the environment has led to an overly decadent civilization that now lies on the brink of collapse.

The action RPG combat sounds interesting, as you'll be able to target specific parts of your foes and basically dismember them, acquiring their own armor, weapons, and other gear for yourself. By doing so, you can outfit and upgrade your own exoskeleton to enhance your battle abilities, which should help against the game's large bosses. A full crafting system will allow you to build new equipment by finding new blueprints, as well.

The Surge is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017. In the meantime, check out the first screens and artwork in our gallery.
