NIS America has announced that they will release the visually unique strategy RPG, God Wars: Future Past, for PS4 and PS Vita in North America and Europe for an early 2017 release.

The game's world has three nations — one of those nations is Mizuho, which suffered from several dangerous natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions. In order to stop an eruption, Mizuho's Queen, Tsukuyomi, sacrificed one of her daughters to the mountain, and confined her other daughter, Kaguya, in a bamboo seal to protect the land from subsequent disasters. The queen then disappeared. The game takes place 13 years later when Kaguya has "risen against her fate to be a sacrifice", runs into her childhood friend, and together, they journey across Mizuho to understand Queen Tsukuyomi's drastic decision.

God Wars: Future Past offers a wealth of customization options, so you can fine-tune your strategies. There are 14 playable characters, 30 classes with over 400 skills, and 250 unique pieces of equipment.

What's most distinctive about the game at first glance is its visual style, which is inspired by Japanese ink painting and wood carving art. I'm definitely a fan.

The game is currently available as a demo on the Japanese Playstation Store. God Wars: Future Past is developed by Kadokawa and will be available for the PS4 and PS Vita in Japan on February 23, and in the West in early 2017.
