Game Awards 2016: The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier Revealed

Telltale Games has revealed the latest season of The Walking Dead series titled The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier. The debut trailer shown at the Game Awards introduces us to Javier, the new playable character and revealing how the zombie plague affected his family before the game's events. Check out the extended first look trailer below.

Next we have the game's plot summary.

When family is all you have.. how far will you go to protect it? Years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to protect his family, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last.

The Walking Dead Series third season will consist of five episodes. The first two are due for December 20th while the final three are all due for a 2017 release. Episodes will be distributed via the Telltale Store, Steam and other digital distiribution services for PC, on Playstation Network for PS4, on Xbox Game Store for Xbox One. The game will also be available for iOS and Android through both platform's mobile marketplaces. Telltale Games has also confirmed that the game will be coming to unannounced platforms in the near future.

A physical release is also planned for February 14th as a special 'Season Pass Disc' for PS4 and Xbox One. It will come with the first episode installed and automatically download the subsequent episodes as they are released. Players can pre-order on their preferred platform now. Pre-ordering for PS4 gets you a free copy of The Walking Dead: Season 2 and The Walking Dead: Michonne, while Steam pre-orders get a 10% discount on the game.

A New Frontier will accomodate new players and returning players in different ways. the story will be slightly different depending on previous series game's save file prescence or lack of. Newcomers will start a story that takes them into account, while veteran players will recieve multiple options to configure their backstory by importing older game's save files to do so.
