A recent update to the official website of Ni no Kuni II: Reverent Kingdom has new screenshots and details on the combat that focus on some of the hero Evan's companions.

ni no kuni higgledie leaders

First to be featured are the Pikman-like elemental creatures called Higgledies, and especially the Higgledie leaders. These leaders are specially adorned Higgledies that can bring together a large group of Higgledies of a particular element. For instance, through the leader Evan can issue orders to the Fire Higgledies to form a barrier against fire damage, useful when fighting a lava dragon.

Different leaders have different effects, so they are vital to making the most of your Higgledie fighting force. Another companion, Lofty, will issue advice in battle, for instance when the enemy is vulnerable heavy damage. Be sure to pay attention and seize the moment.

Finally, Level 5 has left tantalizing hints about the Evan's ability to build his kingdom. Evan can bring both new technology and talented individuals to his domain, which will provide a boon in his journey and in battle. It will be critical to utilize these human (and likely non-human) resources effectively by assigning them to the right positions. The developer has promised more updates on this system soon.
