Kingdom Hearts III to Have Smaller, More Detailed Worlds; Update on Final Fantasy VII Remake Development
Pixar is getting great representation.
07.27.17 - 11:53 AM

It's great that we're finally getting long awaited updates on Kingdom Hearts III and director Tetsuya Nomura is following up with an interview discussing the game's progress and the confirmed Toy Story world in this month's issue of Famitsu.

kingdom hearts iii toy story world

Nomura reveals that the development team wanted to include a Toy Story world way back when Kingdom Hearts II was in development. To get the world included in the sequel, plenty of back and forth negotiation was needed. The Toy Story segment will take place after Toy Story II and be a canon part of the Toy Story universe.

Each floor of the Galaxy Toys store will include a different feature. One of the features Nomura wishes to include is the ability to ride on and fight with mechs.

kingdom hearts iii toy story iii update

Toy Story is not the only Pixar series getting featured, as Nomura briefly mentioned that the Big Hero 6 world is "progressing well" but news for that segment is still a ways off. Next he revealed that while Kingdom Hearts III will feature fewer worlds than it's predecessor, each world will be more dense and rich with content, providing players with more time to get immersed in their favorite Disney settings.

final fantasy vii remake update

Jumping to Square's other blockbuster series, Nomura shared a bit of info on Final Fantasy VII Remake's development, confirming that the game's cutscenes are further in development than Kingdom Hearts III as a whole and that project lead Naoki Hamaguchi has been involved with the project from the beginning as a part of Business Division I.

Kingdom Hearts III is set for a 2018 release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development for PlayStation 4.
