Sega has announced that Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will be coming to Western shores on March 20th, 2018, exclusive to the PlayStation 4 system.

A trailer was also released for the game, showcasing series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu engaging in the zany antics the Yakuza series is known for, including feeding dozens of cats, taking a selfie with a mascot dressed as an orange, and a metric ton of bare knuckled brawling. Check it out below!

Sega also announced that the game would get two special editions, the limited "Launch Edition" and the aptly named "After Hours Premium Edition."

The "Launch Edition" comes with a hardcover art book that doubles as a holder for the game's disc, and will retail for $59.99 USD.

After Hours Premium Edition

The "After Hours Premium Edition" comes with a hardcover art book, 2 bar glasses (280ml), 2 coasters, and 2 ice stones, within a collectible outer box. This edition will retail for $89.99 USD.

Sega also announced that Yakuza 6: The Song of Life would, for the first time in the series' history, be fully voiced in Japanese. Alongside this first, a new engine, aptly titled the "Dragon Engine," has been built to harness the power of the PlayStation 4, promising lifelike facial animations, seamless transitions between battle and the streets, and a new physics engine.

The plot of the game will deal with the final chapter in series' protagonist Kazuma Kiryu's odyssey, as he embroils himself once again within crime, conspiracy and the power struggles within Japan's streets. The game will allow players to explore the modernised streets of Tokyo within the red light district of Kamurocho, and for the first time, the coastal town of Onomichi, a sleepy haven located within the Hiroshima Prefecture.

Personally, after giving Yakuza 0 a whirl, this series has the highest respect from me, and I'm raring to give Yakuza 6: The Song of Life the time it deserves when it lands stateside.
