The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV ~The End of Saga~ Revealed
It's kind of a big deal.
12.20.17 - 10:45 AM

Just to be safe, I've marked spoiler points below, but with Cold Steel III not out in English, any/all of what follows may be considered a spoiler for earlier games, so be warned:

There were rumblings of this coming, but now it's official: Falcom has opened a teaser website for the next Cold Steel game, revealed to be titled The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV ~The End of Saga~. And oh boy is the website itself a gigantic spoiler if you haven't finished previous games. Since Trails of Cold Steel III doesn't even have an English release announced yet, move on with care.

Trails of Cold Steel IV will be — as you may guess — the conclusion of the Cold Steel subseries (but not the overall Trails series), and according to Falcom, the scope of the game will be even wider than that of Cold Steel III.

Thanks to our resident staff of Trails experts, I feel it's safe to put this here:

You can see a few more images in our new gallery, but again, some of these could be considered spoilers! On that note, below is Gematsu's translation of Falcom's own overview of Cold Steel IV. This is your final spoiler warning:

Due to the "The Great Twilight" plan being put into effect, a loathsome "curse" spread across the empire.

Rean Schwarzer, the "Ashen Knight," was overtaken by his rampaging ogre power and lost self-control.

As the world heads for its demise, what will the remaining members of the new and old Class VII do?

Whew, now that we're all spoiled... The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 in fall 2018. Trails of Cold Steel III, meanwhile, released in Japan on September 28, 2017, and while an English release is likely coming, no details have surfaced yet on when that may be, but we will keep you in the know!
