Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia Coming West! No time for punctuation! Bravery attack! 01.16.18 - 10:39 AM
There's more than one new Dissidia title coming soon: Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is officially coming our way "soon."
Released in Japan in early 2017, this one is different than other games in the spin-off series. Dissidia games all have followed the same idea, of bringing together heroes and villains from all Final Fantasy worlds to battle common foes and, of course, one another.
But where the other games – including this month's Dissidia Final Fantasy NT – have been fighting games, or at least, some flavor of fighting games, Opera Omnia is a turn-based RPG. The premise is similar, in that you can build your dream party of Kain, Terra, Y'shtola, and Cloud, but it's in a very different setting. Being Dissidia though, also means that Opera Omnia features a take on the subseries' Bravery system, requiring you to build Bravery via certain attacks for optimal efficiency in battle. DFFOO (what an acronym) also allows you to play with friends via multiplayer, to bring down foes that may otherwise be hard to beat on your own.
But really, what matters is that Opera Omnia, of its many expected summons like Shiva and Ifrit, features the surprise return of the likes of Pandemonium and Brothers, who – if I'm not mistaken – have not been seen since Final Fantasy VIII, which was released almost 19 years ago:
There's a host of others of course, and one of my favorite things, stylistically, is seeing new artist takes on classic designs when it comes to games like Dissidia and World of Final Fantasy. Here's a few more that you know, but seen through a new lens:
Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is coming "this winter" to both the iOS App Store and Google Play. When exactly that could be is anyone's guess, though historically, many companies enjoy last-minute mobile announcements, so my guess is we'll see it sooner than later.
Like many mobile releases, Square Enix is running a social media campaign, so if enough people follow the game's Facebook or Twitter pages, or pre-register via Google Play, all players will be rewarded up to 5000 Gems upon launch.
We'll be bringing you more coverage on all things Dissidia Final Fantasy as both new titles near release, and in the meantime, check out the debut trailer for Opera Omnia:
