Coming This Week, 07/09/18Two games, eight ways to play.07.09.18 - 1:05 PM
Well, here we are: the week of July 9th. In other words, the week that Octopath comes out and even with that, I still have to wait four days to get it. Early impressions seem good, though, so I'm still excited. We can talk more about Octopath when I actually get to it. We still have other games to talk about too. And by other games, I mean one game.
Wow, a new Shining game? I completely forgot about this. Ok, I didn't actually but with all of the other games coming out, you can't blame someone for actually doing so. With an action battle system, a dragon as the main character, and relationships to foster in-game, Shining fans have a nice experience to look forward too. If I had money and time, I'd might get it myself. But, alas, other games await the poor dragon soul in my heart. Anyways, check out our gallery to see more of Shining Resonance Refrain.
Hmm, I don't really know too much about this game. What was it again? ...don't look at me like that. Let's be honest, this has been the RPG a lot of us at RPGFan have been looking forward to. Eight characters, each with their own storylines told in a SaGa-style. A battle system reminiscent of Bravely, and an art style that looks breathtaking with its 16-bit design, and we could have an amazing RPG on our hands. There still have been some doubts, as the story could be simple, or there could be a bunch of puns like in Bravely Second. However, early previews — such as our own look at the latest demo — have been positive, so I'm looking forward to what is to come. Check out our gallery while you wait.
Well, that's it for this week. A new game from a long-standing franchise and a new original game from a long-standing RPG company. There's plenty of stuff to keep everyone busy while we wait for the end of August to come around. Seeing as August has Shenmue I & II and Yakuza Kiwami 2, quickly followed by Dragon Quest XI in September, the biggest RPG of the year, there's a lot to look forward to. In the meantime, I'm going to go keep myself busy with the endgame of Tokyo Xanadu. As always, stay tuned to RPGFan for the greatest in RPG coverage.
