Tetsuya Nomura Hints at Other Projects to Accompany Final Fantasy VII RemakeOf course, Kingdom Hearts III comes first.11.10.18 - 12:35 AM
Not only is Final Fantasy VII getting a remake, but we might be seeing more projects in regards to the PlayStaton One classic. At the very least, Tetsuya Nomura and team are thinking about the possibilities.
At The World Ends With You: Final Remix event in Japan, Nomura had this to say:
Not everyone may know this, but I'm remaking Final Fantasy VII... (laughs). Right now I'm concentrating on Kingdom Hearts III, but when that's finished, VII will be where I head next. I'm thinking about ideas regarding the remake's release— I even spoke to producer Kitase about it today. All of us old-timers are considering various developments in regards to what accompanies the remake. Like if we can manage to do something about the Compilation [of Final Fantasy VII] titles too. But for the time being, please wait for VII's turn to come.
Of course, fans may remember that this isn't be the first time Final Fantasy VII had received side projects. Starting in 2004, the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII added several supplemental titles, including the mobile game Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, the PlayStation Portable ARPG Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, the PlayStation 2 shooter Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, an original video animation titled Last Order: Final Fantasy VII, and the CGI film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. You can read our reviews for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII at the provided links.
From the sound of Nomura's quote, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. We may see more compilation projects or we might at least see a re-release of the existing compilation. We will keep you posted when we hear more about the Final Fantasy VII remake and its possible side projects.
