E3 2019: Square Enix Unsure of How Many Final Fantasy VII Remake Installments There Will Be
This is quite an undertaking to say the least.

During an interview with Kotaku's Jason Schreier, Final Fantasy VII Remake director Yoshinori Kitase said that he was unsure of how many installments the final project would be. The first installment releasing on March 3rd, 2020 covers all of Midgar and consists of two Blu-ray discs, an indicator of how massive the final project is.

Kitase does not believe that the following installments will have a significantly shorter development time. However, the Square Enix PR team put out a statement saying that the the second game's development would likely be more efficient due to the work completed on the first game. However, they are currently completely focused on finishing the first installment.
