Having a grand 'ol time.

08.12.19 - 9:10 PM

Greetings, adventurers, and welcome to the Emerald Outpost here at the Edge of the World! Here is the latest missive concerning what's happening around these parts. This week, we'll be expecting an HD revival of a classic gaming series, a collection of PC gaming classics, and a very unique visual novel. Let's delve into further details without delay.

Eliza - August 12th (Windows, Mac, Linux)

Right out of the gate, this is one of the more unique concepts for a game that I've seen. Eliza is a visual novel focused on an AI counseling program and its users. Inspired by the real-life program of the same name, Eliza is about Evelyn Ishino-Aubrey, who is trying to reconnect with people from her past by interacting with the citizens of Seattle and users of the Eliza program. It's certainly a fairly novel premise, and the game will be available on PC as of this writing. Check it out!

Dicey Dungeons Screenshot

Dicey Dungeons - August 13th (Windows, Mac, Linux)

Dicey Dungeons is a colorful foray into being a sentient die adventurer. You read that right. Dice as adventurers. Take fortune into your own hands as you battle to the end of a constantly changing dungeon and battle Lady Luck. Dicey Dungeons is described as a fast-paced, deck building roguelike, so if that sounds appealing, give it a try! Watch for a review from us on this title soon as well, if you'd like to know more.

The Bard's Tale Trilogy - August 13th (XB1)

If you own an Xbox One and you've been curious about trying the original Bard's Tale games before number four hits the console, then you're in luck. InXile Entertainment is making The Bard's Tale Trilogy (recently released for Windows) available via the Game Pass service, so Xbox owners can experience these seminal PC classics. These are old-school dungeon crawlers in the truest sense, so break out the graph paper and get ready for adventure.

Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark - August 14th (Switch)

From some of the developers who worked on Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled, Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark is an ambitious strategy game that came out earlier this year. Now, the Final Fantasy Tactics-inspired antics are coming to the Nintendo Switch, allowing players to bring the battle with them on the go. Check out our review from the illustrious Neal Chandran for more details.

Grandia HD Collection Screenshot

Grandia HD Collection - August 16th (Switch)

At long last, the original Grandia is getting an HD remaster. After its younger sibling, Grandia II, made a surprise appearance on Steam a few years back, it was only a matter of time before the original game got a similar treatment. Both games will be available as a digital download on the Nintendo Switch, and Grandia 1 will also be making its way to PC platforms. If you'd like to know more about these classic RPGs and how well they've fared in their transition to modern hardware, check out Alana Hagues and Zach Wilkerson's preview from E3 2019!

...and that's everything! Now please, be careful on your journey, adventurer. Who knows what awaits you on the other side? Safe travels, and we'll see you here again next week.
