Remakes are a constant within the video game industry, and the seminal Final Fantasy series has proven to be no exception. The upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to stir the hearts of JRPG fans around the globe early next month, and its recently released demo has been a bombastic hit with audiences worldwide. Alongside this buzz, the conversation around remakes of other entries within the Final Fantasy series is seemingly up and running, by way of Gamereactor, with their team asking Yoshinori Kitase, longtime producer within Square Enix and for the Final Fantasy VII Remake itself, which game, given ample resources, time, and a team, he'd like to remake.

Kitase answered deftly, stating that his answer was "...purely personal opinion...", and expressed a desire to remake Final Fantasy V, highlighting that "...the first Final Fantasy that I worked on myself was Final Fantasy V, that hasn't been remade with the more realistic kind of approach yet, so I think it might be quite interesting to do a FF5 remake someday".

Personally, I think the idea of modernizing the pixel-era Final Fantasy titles offers some interesting extrapolations and potentials, alongside existing remasters of their original or near-original states on various consoles, and I hope that Yoshinori Kitase gets the opportunity to do so in the future.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to release on PlayStation 4 on the 10th of April, after a small delay. Stay tuned to RPGFan for all news Final Fantasy!
