RPGs and fighting games seem to be good bedfellows. Whether it's fighting games implementing a customisation or level up system in their single-player modes, or RPGs implementing an input-heavy combat system, these two seemingly opposite genres really click. And we've also seen a lot of RPGs make the jump into the genre, and covered them here! This time, the worldwide mobile gacha hit Granblue Fantasy has made the move.
While well-known as a gacha RPG, we're actually getting an action RPG called Granblue Fantasy: Relink at... some point. News has been pretty quiet as of late, but to tide us over, Cygames have teamed up with fighting game masters Arc System Works (who have adapted a hugely popular RPG before) to create Granblue Fantasy: Versus. Utterly gorgeous to look at and easy to pick-up and play, Arc System Works have managed to make an accessible and fun fighting game that's easy to play but hard to master.
As someone who enjoys fighting games, I reviewed the game and had a blast toying around with the characters, mechanics, and different modes the game has to offer. You should check it out, then join me in demanding Arc System Works to create a Guilty Gear RPG!
