Shadowbringers was our overall Game of the Year winner in 2019. Fans of the MMORPG have often called this expansion one of the best Final Fantasy stories ever. But what about what came before it, Stormblood? Following on from an already acclaimed expansion in Heavensward, Stormblood always had a tough job to do. It brings a lot of improvements to the game, but ultimately feels like a step back from its predecessor.

We missed out covering this back in 2017, but now that we're deep into Shadowbringers, it's finally time to look back and see what Stormblood did right, and wrong. Who better to talk about this than our resident Final Fantasy XIV queen Caitlin Argyros. Read her review of Stormblood for the expert opinion on just how good this expansion, and its patches, were back in 2017, and how all of the content fares today.
