Final Fantasy Tactics is one of Squaresoft's best masterpiece. It's a Strategy/RPG with a great story line, characters, graphics, and music. Some of the characters in the game are from past Squaresoft games such as Cloud in Final Fantasy 7.

Final Fantasy Tactics starts off with a beautiful CG animation that will blow anybody away. The music is also superb and will draw you into the game very quickly. As you start the game, it tells you of what is going on and the some of the past history in the game to get you familiarized.

"...The lords of the six ruling families united to guide Ivalice back to prosperity. However, their delicate balance of power soon collapsed. One year after the 50-year war had ended, Ivalice's Princess Ovelia was abducted. Prompted by this, conflict grew between two families: Gallione (ruled by Prince Larg, whose crest was one of a White Lion) and Zeltennia (ruled by Prince Goltana, whose crest was a Black Lion)."

The game is split into 4 chapters, if I remember correctly, and you play each chapter learning about Ivalice's history. Basically, you (Ramza) are supposed to go out and find the missing Princess Ovelia. At the same time, you have to decide if what your brothers are doing is right and if you should follow them. If not then you will be marked as a traitor.

This game has an interesting character class change component. Here you could choose any type of character you would like to be; for example, you can be wizards, priests, summoners, knights, etc. Here you can learn many abilities and can put any attributes that you learned from those classes into your favorite class to make one super powerful character.

The battle scenes are like chess where you have to move your characters strategically around the field. You then select what you would like to do like fight and so on. You have one set ability for your class type and another you could set for any class that you've already been.

You go around the game in a very detailed overworld map as you pick your destination with a pointing hand. In every town or castle you visit, you usually have go into fighting scenes so you basically know what to expect.

The only flaws I found were the lengthy time to build enough job points for your character's class in order to learn a new attribute and going back and forth across places you've already fought in or liberated in order to level up your characters.

Overall I would say this game is a must for those die-hard RPG fans out there. This game is worth all your money and will be excellent for your collection. Final Fantasy Tactics will live on in your mind for time to come and if it doesn't, then you can come after me!

Can this game beat out classic Strategy-RPG series like the Ogre and Langrisser series?

The graphics in the game are really good with great spell effects.
