Former Music Dept. Manager
My first video game encounter was the Mario and Duck Hunt double game pak that came bundled with the NES. From then on, I played Platformers games until my family bought me Final Fantasy, which was perhaps the best — and absolute worst — thing they could have ever done! Haha!
Over the years, since then, I consumed a great deal of RPGs — without understanding what truly engrossed me in every title. It wasn't until my mother rented Final Fantasy III (VI) for my brother that I understood what it was: the music.
While I may enjoy an RPG's story, graphics, gameplay, etc. — it was the music that pulled me in every time. This love for RPG music eventually blossomed into a love for anything video game music related. When I discovered vgmusic.com after finally getting access to the internet, words could not describe the swell of emotions that enveloped my being.
Years later, I would then go on to earn my B.A. in Music, during which I passionately advocated the importance of video game music in the academic realm of music to students and professors alike. When I wasn't talking someone's ear off about music (either classical or video game), I was writing online soundtrack reviews, as well as impressions and news on personal blogs.
If you haven't guessed it by now, you can safely assume that I am a video game music enthusiast. It is my hope that I may introduce you to video game music — whether old or new — through my reviews on the site. Share the same interest? Join the boards and let's chat! :)
