My earliest video game memories involve my grandparents — two wonderful people who I still talk to about RPGs to this day. When I was 4 years old, I remember watching both of them play everything from Final Fantasy to Dragon Warrior to Faxanadu on their NES. I'd watch in awe as they took pleasure in the story, the characters, and even level grinding. Of course, there's nothing I wanted to do more than to play these games. They'd always patiently let me start a save file and get as far into the game as I could. Then, when I inevitably got stuck, they'd level up my save file and progress the story. They helped me save the princess in Dragon Warrior, and even beat the last boss in Final Fantasy.

Ever since I finally managed to beat an RPG on my own a year or two later, I haven't looked back. Not only have they kept me connected to my family as I've moved around the country, RPGs have seen me through almost every phase of my life; some of my strongest memories involve falling in love with a story or a character during a pivotal moment in my childhood and early adulthood. I can't imagine my life without them.

Above all, RPGs engendered my love of story. I majored in English in college, minored in film, and even went to graduate school for library science. Now I'm an English teacher, so I spend my days trying to convince high school students that books are awesome, and my evenings watching, reading, playing, or otherwise consuming any story I can get my hands on. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to share that love with all of you!

I've been a fan of (obsessed with) RPGFan almost since the beginning, and I couldn't be any more excited to be working with a group of passionate fans who helped form me into the "RPG fan" that I am today!
