Level-5 has released a new trailer for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam showcasing snippets of a supernatural mystery, gameplay, and more.

It was shown at the Level-5 Vision 2024: To the World’s Children broadcast, where it was also revealed that the game will be coming out in 2025 for the Nintendo Switch.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam – Trailer (LEVEL5 VISION 2024 Ver.)

Players will play as both Professor Layton and his apprentice Luke as they explore the mechanical streets of Steam Bison, a city in a fictionalized America. The central hub of Steam Bison and its inhabitants seem to be rendered entirely in 3D, where players can rapidly cycle through different areas reminiscent of a stylized industrial age.

As they explore the streets, the duo can interact with the city’s inhabitants and solve their problems. Notably, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will have the most puzzles in the series’ 17-year history, developed in conjunction with Japanese entertainment company QuizKnock.

It looks like Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is shaping up to be a return to form for the puzzle-focused franchise. As someone who needs a good head-scratcher of a puzzle from time to time, perhaps this will scratch that itch in spades.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be released for Switch sometime in 2025. For more information, check out its official website!
