After years of begging, we're finally getting a new console Paper Mario game this July. But, many of us have totally overlooked a gem from last year, which takes what makes Paper Mario so fun, and perfects it. Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling hit Steam in November 2019, but today, the game launches on consoles. The game wears its inspiration on its sleeve, and is proud of it. And it should be.

Moonsprout Games absolutely knocks it out of the park with Bug Fables, because while you can see where the game comes from, it does enough to stand out on its own. Check out my review of the game to see why this is the gold beetle standard!

Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling is out today, May 28, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and is also available on Steam.
