Coming This Week, 2/10/20

Welcome back to RPGFan’s Coming This Week! It’s almost Valentine’s Day, which either means you’ll be getting cozy with your significant other or binging the entirety of The Office again… or both, if that’s your jam! Regardless, you’ll need a lot of chocolate to get through this week. Might we suggest video games as an alternative (or supplement)? This week, there’s a new action RPG from Level-5, a brand new spin on the Darksiders franchise (for console gamers, at least), and more. Let’s get started.

Yakuza 5 – January 11th (PS4)

It’s been really gratifying seeing the Yakuza games rise to well-deserved prominence. The latest installment of the series to get the remaster treatment is Yakuza 5, thereby completing the Yakuza Remastered Collection. If you’ve missed the boat on the adventures of Kazuma Kiryu and you want to catch up, the entire series is now playable from start to finish on PlayStation 4! Look for reviews of the full Remastered Collection soon!

Fire Emblem: Three Houses – Cindered Shadows – February 12th (Switch)

This week, it’s time to return to Garreg Mach and find out what’s stirring in the depths below the monastery. This is round four of the expansion pass for this extremely popular Fire Emblem title, and it boasts a secret “fourth house” as well as some characters and classes not found in the main game. Between this and the recent Smash announcement, there’s plenty more of Byleth to go around! Read our review of the base game if you’re deciding whether to jump in now that the DLC has come out.

Florence – February 13th (Switch, Windows, macOS, & Linux)

Florence is billed as an “interactive storybook,” placing players in the role of its title character on her journey of love and self-discovery. The game originally came out on mobile devices and made terrific use of the platform, so it’ll be interesting how it makes the jump to PC platforms and the Switch. You can read our review for more details on the original release!

Darksiders Genesis – February 14th (PS4, XB1, Switch)

PC gamers have already had a chance to play the latest installment in the Darksiders franchise, but now War and Strife are riding onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Not only is this game a prequel to the other Darksiders games, but it’s also a top-down action RPG in the vein of Diablo or traditional 2D Zelda, rather than a third-person action-adventure game. It’s also the first time that Strife, the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, has been playable in a Darksiders game!

Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl Gold – February 14th (Nintendo Switch)

A new game from Level-5 is definitely cause for celebration! Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl Gold is an action RPG in the vein of Fantasy Life or Rune Factory, blending life sim and roguelike elements into a unique, delicious combination. The game will be available for the Nintendo Switch this Friday.

And that’s a wrap! Be sure to take a break from your adventures and check in here at RPGFan for more information on the latest games.
