Final Fantasy XIV Online’s Patch 5.2 Trailer Showcases New Enemies, Quests & Mayhem Releasing February 18th

Square Enix has unveiled a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV Online, showcasing the content on offer in the upcoming Patch 5.2, known as Echoes of a Fallen Star, set to release for Windows PC systems, macOS, and the PlayStation 4 on February 18th, 2020. Check out the rollicking and rocking bevy of content in action below!

As is stands, Echoes of a Fallen Star is set to continue the main narrative of Shadowbringers, the third and latest expansion to Final Fantasy XIV, wherein the Warrior of Darkness and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn await their return homeward, at the will of the Crystal Exarch. Alongside this, new end-game content will also unlock, in the form of the second chapter of the Eden raid series: Eden’s Verse. This content will be available for players to test their mettle on both Normal and Savage difficulties and introduces Gaia, a character designed by luminary Tetsuya Nomura, into its narrative.

A new Dungeon will also be unveiled within the game, known as Anamnesis Anyder, where a party of four players or one player and three NPC characters, via the recently released Trust system, will sojourn once again into depths unknown in search of knowledge and treasure. Cinder Drift, a new Trial, will release with Patch 5.2, where players can test their mettle against the imposing and indomitable Ruby Weapon (a familiar end-game boss first appearing in Final Fantasy VII), on both Normal and Extreme difficulties.

A regular addition to most Final Fantasy XIV Online patches, players will have new Beast Tribe Quests to undertake, Patch 5.2 focusing on the Qitari and Disciple of the Land classes, so get those green thumbs and pickaxes ready! A new Chronicles of a New Era quest, known as ‘The Sorrow of Werlyt’, will have players, if they so choose, explore the narrative, lore, and history of the Weapons within Final Fantasy XIV itself.

Ocean Fishing will also become available to the Fisher class within Final Fantasy XIV, where those good with their rods and lure can venture on the high seas, accessible via a boat that players can board at a specific time. Rewards can be earned, both in experience and scrips based on the quality of fish caught, as well as a group conditional objective that, if fulfilled, will net a big haul and greater rewards to boot. New content for the Ishgardian Restoration and a new Equipment Enhancement Quest series will release in Patch 5.21 and 5.25 respectively, upon and after Echoes of a Fallen Star launches. Those rebuilding Ishgar will content with high-level crafting challenges and gathering-specific content involving the Disciples of the Land and Hand classes. Those seeking to enhance equipment will gain an opportunity to obtain new powerful items, entrenched in Hrothgar lore.

Phew! As is the case with mainline patches for Final Fantasy XIV Online, content is key and center, with seemingly enough meat for fans of the MMORPG to sink their virtual teeth, weapons and time into for the foreseeable future.
