Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the latest installment of Coming This Week with RPGFan! This time, we’ve got a real treat in store for us: a pair of strategy RPGs getting the HD treatment. There’s also a sequel to a well-received action title from a couple years back, and much more. Is everyone ready to place their party units and outmaneuver the enemy? No time to lose, so let’s jump in!
Serin Fate – March 10th (Windows)
It’s time to get witchy with indie RPG Serin Fate. It’s coming to Windows systems on the 10th, and tries to capture some of the charm of Stardew Valley with even more witches. If you are aiming to live your best witch life and manage your own magic, land, and familiars as one, look no further than Serin Fate. And really, who doesn’t need more cute animal familiars in their life? …or to run away and have a nice, secluded cottage. You know, whatever works.
Langrisser I & II – March 10th (PS4, Switch, Windows)
Yeah, you read that right. Langrisser is back! These seminal strategy games stand alongside the original Fire Emblem as one of the subgenre’s formative entries. Or, if nothing else, one of its earliest imitations. Now, both Langrisser I and II are headed to the PS4 and Switch platforms, bringing two epic tales of warfare to modern hardware thanks to the good people over at NIS America. And hey, it can’t possibly be worse than that 3DS game, right? …right? We collectively agreed to forget that that ever happened, yes? Moving on.
Half Past Fate – March 12th (Switch, Windows)
Somedaaaay my Aetherial Priince wiiiillll come…er, excuse me. On the 12th, we have romantic narrative adventure Half Past Fate debuting on Switch and Windows PCs. The game is described as a story of ordinary people drawn together in extraordinary ways, and looks to have some interesting slice-of-life aspects, including work and spicy Ramen. Glad to see a romantic story where food plays the large role that it should: let’s be real. Be sure to also watch for an upcoming review on this one!
Bless Unleashed – March 12th (XB1)
What’s this? A Xbox One exclusive? Perish the thought! Okay, kidding aside, Bless Unleashed is a successful South Korean MMO that is being brought stateside by Bandai Namco. The game is free to play and offers a massive multiplayer experience that is billed as “the premier next-generation MMORPG.” With a pedigree like that, surely it’s worth a look? One way or another, South Korea has the market cornered on addictive online games, so if you need a new online world to fill the Final Fantasy XIV-shaped hole in your heart, or just need an excuse to dust off your Xbox One, then give this a shot.
Nioh 2 – March 13th (PS4)
Ready to dive back into a monster-filled feudal Japan? The original Nioh was Samurai Souls before Sekiro made it cool, offering a unique spin on the burgeoning Soulslike genre of action game. Now, Team Ninja is giving it another spin with Nioh 2, a prequel wherein our playable character can unleash the evil powers of a yokai. If you’re hankering for a solid action game, then definitely be sure to pick up Nioh 2 this Friday.
And that’s all for now, folks! As always, keep an eye on RPGFan for more coverage of your favorite video games: we’ve got some really exciting stuff in the pipeline. Catch you next time.
