NieR Replicant Remaster Coming to PS4, XB1, and Steam

During the series’ 10th anniversary livestream, Square Enix announced that a remaster of the original NieR is being developed for modern consoles. Entitled “NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…”, this remaster of NieR Replicant is being developer by Toylogic, with the involvement of Takahisa Taura from Platinum Games. According to producer Yosuke Saito, this is a “version upgrade” to the original game, neither remaster nor remake, and will feature new content and quite possibly a new ending.

A black scrawl disease and strange beasts threatened the world. A young, kind-hearted boy makes a promise to his little sister. A thousand-year lie that would live on for eternity…

Additionally, Keiichi Okabe has re-recorded all of the music tracks from the original NieR, and is even adding new music. Considering how phenomenal the original game’s OST was, this is excellent news! Intriguingly, the Japanese voice actors for NieR Automata’s 2B and 9S (Yui Ishikawa and Natsuki Hanae) will have a minor role in the new version of Replicant.

Speaking personally, I adore this series, and am ridiculously excited that more people can experience the original title. Check out the announcement trailer below, and stay tuned to RPGFan for more coverage of NieR.
