In a surprising morning announcement via GameInformer, NIS America and Nihon Falcom have revealed that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is making its way to North American audiences this fall.
Given how long we waited for Cold Steel III (and the changing of hands from XSEED to NISA), many fans have been wondering what that might mean for a localization of Cold Steel IV, released in Japan on September 27th, 2018. Since 2018, we’ve been reporting on this, the final game in the Cold Steel series, wary of the massive spoilers it could reveal for people who hadn’t yet been able to play Cold Steel III.
So, unless NISA, Falcom, and GameInformer have collaborated on an elaborate and cruel April Fool’s Day prank, we can delight in knowing English-speaking audiences will finally be able to see how the tale ends.
Head over to GameInformer’s post for the brand-new trailer, and their quick Q&A with Nihon Falcom president and producer Toshihiro Kondo about the game.
Finally, check out the limited “Frontline Editions” being planned below. While it’s strange only the Switch release includes the mini soundtrack, these are some nice-looking packages! The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV (dropping the Japanese subtitle “End of Saga”) is coming to PlayStation 4 this fall, with Nintendo Switch and PC releases to follow in 2021.
