Dying for more Final Fantasy XIV? You’re in luck! The latest update to the wildly popular MMORPG, 5.25, is available now!
This update adds a variety of new content to the game, the most prominent of which is the Save the Queen: Blades of Gunnhildr quest series. The quest, written by Final Fantasy veteran Yasumi Matsuno (Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XII), explores the Hrothgar homeland of Bozja Citadel and features new powerful weapons. The quest series will be regularly updated through future patches, and you will be able to do new Resistance Weapon Quest Battles.
But that’s not all! The 5.25 update also includes a new “Extreme” difficulty trial that pits a party of eight against a challenging battle. Another quest series, Skysteel Tools, adds upgraded Skysteel tools for the Disciples of the Land and Hand. Like with the Save the Queen quest series, this questline will also feature updates in future patches. Lastly, the 5.25 update comes with new items, recipes, furnishings, and more. For the complete patch notes, check out Square Enix’s complete list.
Furthermore, players will have time to take part in Final Fantasy XIV’s season event, Hatching-tide 2020! This Easter-themed event allows players to collect two bunny costumes along with exclusive housing items! The event expires on April 13th. For more details, check out Square Enix’s dedicated site.
Lastly, the six-part documentary series “The Creation of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers” is now complete. The series documents the development of Final Fantasy XIV and provides insight from various key developers. You can watch the series here. Also, Square Enix uploaded a video preview of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festivals, which are expected to hit North America, Japan, and Europe in 2020 and 2021.
