Indie studio Gato Salvaje has been hard at work creating their most ambitious project to date, designing a brand new RPG called The Waylanders, which follows the adventures of a time traveling wanderer as he deals with magical corruption and a warring nation. Today, we’re excited to reveal a brand new flythrough trailer for The Waylanders, along with some exciting new information on the locations we’ll be exploring! Check out the trailer below!
The Waylanders adventure begins in the land of Kaltia, now known as Galicia, located in Northwestern Spain. Kaltia is home to many different races, cultures, and creeds who work together together to make up this ancient kingdom. Let’s take a more in-depth look at some of the locations we’ll be visiting on our adventures in The Waylanders!
Brigantia is the capital city of Kaltia, home to King Ith and his court. A bustling coastal city, Brigantia hosts many different travelers and traders, becoming one of the most important trade hubs in the kingdom.
Located to the south of Brigantia, Dumbriga is home to “The University,” which many powerful druids attend in order to perfect their magickal crafts. In the center of the town rests The Olympus of the Celts, a large mountain which is said to be home to several gods. Only the most powerful druids are allowed entrance to this mountain, with all others being turned away.
The Mourian Underworld is a vast network of underground cities that cover the entirety of Kaltia. Similar to the Mourian race themselves, their architecture is refined and lavish, with gold and jewels being their main ingredient. Very few entrances to this Underworld have been discovered, and those that have are heavily guarded by the Mourian people.
Just as the name implies, The Werewolf Camp is home to many werewolves! Located deep in the woods, The Werewolf Camp houses many expert hunters, who are more than willing to trade with outsiders. Unfortunately, many humans feel intimidated by the werewolves’ presence, so visitors are few and far between.
A land where the line between the living and the dead is blurred, Dunnios is a large necropolis where few living souls dare to tread. The final resting place of thousands of Celtic souls, including the legendary King Breoghan, Dunnios may prove to be one of the more dangerous areas in the kingdom, especially if the rumors of dragons are true!
Aunes is a charming little seaside town, which Kaltia’s goblin population calls home. Mischievous and playful, the goblins of Katlia are harmless… Unless one of their pranks goes a bit too far…
For the final stop on our tour, let’s take a look at Medhu’s Peak, the only Mourian city which exists outside the Underworld. Named after the ancient goddess Medhu, Medhu’s Peak boasts thriving gold mines, and ancient magick appears to flow through the air.
The Waylanders is set to release on Steam Early Access later this summer. Stay tuned to RPGFan for more news and info on your favorite games!
