Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the latest installment of Coming This Week with RPGFan! As always, we hope you’re staying safe and healthy during these difficult times. Can you believe it’s already May? The five years that have been March and April sure were a lot, but let’s try to take a bit of a breather this week. Work on your Animal Crossing island! Spend time with your family! Crack open a window and vicariously enjoy the great outdoors while playing video games, like I’m doing! Whatever tickles your fancy. Here are the week’s releases to supplement your time.
Wintermoor Tactics Club – May 5th (Windows)
From EVC Games and publisher Versus Evil, Wintermoor Tactics Club is a tactical role-playing game that’s all about… surviving high school. Now that is an RPG premise if I’ve ever heard one! The game is narrative driven and inspired by both strategy RPGs and visual novels, with players encountering seven different playable characters and helping them overcome their problems. The rigors of youth, eh? Wintermoor Tactics Club will hit Windows PCs on May 5th, and please check back shortly for a review.
John Wick Hex – May 5th (PS4)
The eponymous unlikely hero is making a stylish entrance onto PS4 this week. We have more than one John Wick fan on staff, and word is that his story translates surprisingly well into the rather tactical RPG-centered format offered here. If you loved the movies, are looking for a theatrical story in a tactical form, or just really like the comic book presentation, don’t hesitate! You can finally get John Wick Hex on PS4 this Tuesday.
Celestian Tales: Realms Beyond – May 7th (Windows)
…oops. Last week, we reported that Celestian Tales: Realms Beyond was coming out at the end of April, but clearly that is not the case. Weird. Anyhoo, this standalone entry in the indie RPG series Celestian Tales is slated for May 7th. It offers a morally grey storyline told from multiple points of view. Plus, it has a pretty neat art style and will read your end save from the previous game, Old North. If that sounds like your bag, then Celestian Tales: Realms Beyond is worth a look when it drops, for real this time. This is another upcoming title we’ll have a review for soon, as well.
…and that’s a wrap for this week! Take care of yourselves, RPG fans. We’ll be here, continuing to bring you coverage of your favorite video games. Until next time.
