Gestalt: Steam & Cinder May Be the Steampunk Metroidvania You’ve Been Looking For

Gestalt: Steam & Cinder featured in today’s Guerrilla Collective Showcase, and while it wasn’t actually the debut of the game, the stream likely brought several new pairs of eyes on this beautiful Metroidvania-esque action RPG. Featuring a pixel visual presentation that feels like a love letter to the best of the 2D action RPG Castlevania games in a steampunk world, Gestalt aims to offer a fast-paced 2D action game, complete with a strong narrative component, dialogue options that will alter the course of the story, and the ability to grow protagonist Aletheia’s stats and customize her abilities as you gain EXP.

The official story synopsis reads as follows:

Join Aletheia and a vibrant cast of characters as they find themselves embroiled in a race to discover the secrets of the massive, steam-powered city of Canaan, the last bastion of mankind. Unravel centuries-old conspiracies, battle hosts of monstrous automata and thwart the twisted schemes of the city’s corrupt overseers, the Comitium, as you fight for mankind’s survival and discover the dark truth of the Steam City’s origin.

Being developed by Metamorphosis Games and published by Sold Out Games, Gestalt: Steam & Cinder is aiming to release later this year on Windows via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
