Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne Announced for PlayStation 4, Switch, and Steam

Fans of the wildly popular anime and light novel series Re:ZERO have a lot to be excited for. Not only is a second season of the anime schedule for July, but Spike Chunsoft and developer Chime Corporation announced a new video game! Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne releases on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam this winter.

Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne is categorized as a tactical adventure game and features an original plot by series author Tappei Nagatsuki. Furthermore, original characters designed by series artist Shinichirou Otsuka will also make an appearance. The game will be available with both Japanese and English audio.

Spike Chunsoft describes the plot:

One month after Subaru’s new life in another world began, an emissary sent by the royal castle suddenly appears with news that the royal selection has been postponed, but offers no reason as to why. The postponement of this grand event that decides the next ruler of the Kingdom of Lugunica stirs Subaru and his friends into action. They return to the royal capital only to find that a sixth candidate has claimed their stake for the throne. But the Dragon Stone prophesizes that only five candidates would be chosen. With one candidate being an imposter, suspicions are immediately cast toward one woman in particular: Emilia. What answers lie beyond the mysterious web of assassinations, betrayal, and conspiracies…?

Two special versions of the game will be available: The Day One Edition and a Collector’s Edition. The Day One Edition includes a set of original pins that feature Emilia, Subaru, Rem, and a game exclusive character. The pins will come in a display box. These will not be reprinted with future copies of the game.

The Collector’s Edition contains the following items:

• The four exclusive pins that come with the Day One Edition
• An art book containing concept art, sketches, commentary, a foreword from the creators
• Official soundtrack with original music from the game
• Steelbook collector’s case
• Collector’s Edition outerbox
• The game

The Day One Edition is set at $59.99 USD whereas the Collector’s Edition will be $89.99 USD.
