Vampire hunters, rejoice! Or is that demon slayers, now? Regardless, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has sold over a million copies worldwide! Koji Igarashi’s return to the Metroidvania genre he helped create has proven to be one of the most successful Kickstarter ventures ever… and there’s still more to come.

In celebration of the million sale mark, Igarashi expressed his gratitude to the fans and outlined a development roadmap for the game’s future. Several new features are in the works, including a Boss Revenge mode where the player can take control of one of four in-game bosses and duke it out with the game’s heroes. Further additions include a Chroma Wheel for deeper character customization, a local and online VS mode, a specialized “Chaos Mode” boss rush, and a Classic Mode that puts the game more in line with the ‘Vanias of the 80s. There’s even a new playable character in the works…
