If you’ve been holding out on playing Phantasy Star Online 2, well, here’s another avenue for you to explore. The game will be available via Steam beginning on August 5th. On the same day, a major content update for PSO2, “Episode 4,” will go live.

According to Fred White, the Head of Marketing for PSO2 TEAM North America, their goal is to “bring Phantasy Star Online 2 to as many players as we can.” He specified that many people had requested a Steam version of the game, and that it would take advantage of Steam’s unique features, such as Remote Play and Achievements. He also reiterated that the Episode 4 content would be available for those who get the Steam version on the same day as existing platforms.

Here’s a summary of Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode 4.

The Phantasy Star Online 2 story continues in Episode 4 as players wake from a long sleep to find that there has been an internal invasion of fake ARKS members, mysterious enemies called Phantasms appear, and a new planet has been discovered in another dimension: Earth. ARKS will be able to unlock a new level cap and travel to new locations like Tokyo and Las Vegas in the pursuit of solving the mystery of the mysterious black shadow and purge the planet of the most powerful enemies encountered yet, including the mysterious organization called Mother Corps.

Is this game ever gonna come to PS4? There is such a huge audience for this game over here and they thumb their noses at us.

It released in Japan on PS4, and even the Vita, so it's probably safe to say a Western PS4 release is at least possible eventually.

I'd wager with New Generation coming to PS4, they'll probably do something about a Western release at some point since they want people to be able to share characters between versions.
