A Piece of RPG History: Suikoden Prototype Footage

Suikoden Prototype Footage Presentation

While it’s not exactly “new”, a video showcasing prototype footage of the original Suikoden from 1994 hit our radar, and we’d like to share it with all of you!

The footage, lifted from its VHS confines by user OkeijiDragon shows early versions of the battle systems, including duels and party combat, as well as portraits of the characters. Given that Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama recently ran an incredibly successful (and ongoing!) Kickstarter for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, it seems like a good time to reflect on his legacy. You can even see some of artist Junko Kawano’s early work there as well! She’s working with Murayama again on Eiyuden and creating some incredible characters, like fan-favourite shark person, Yuferius VII.
