Genshin Impact, a new action RPG from Shanghai-based MiHoYo, has garnered a fair amount of attention recently. With its painterly hues and large open world, the game bears more than a passing similarity to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but there’s more to this title than meets the eye.

Set in the fictitious land of Teyvat, the player assumes the role of the “Traveler,” a wanderer on a mission to find their lost sibling and uncover the secrets of this world and the seven elemental “Archons” who preside over it. Genshin Impact features over twenty playable characters, a robust combat system, and cross-platfom co-op play. MiHoYo will be supporting the game after launch: as of now, two of the world’s seven major cities have been unlocked, with more to follow.

It's good, but it'd be better as a straight up offline action RPG, done like Trials of Mana and letting you pick which character are in your party and the story focuses on.
