Rejoice Fire Emblem (and Marth) fans! Nintendo announced today that they will be releasing the first official English-language version of the original Fire Emblem, titled Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light. Originally released in Japan in 1990, the game will be available on Switch for a limited time for $5.99 USD in the Switch eShop. The game will release on December 4th, 2020 and “will only be available to purchase until the end of the franchise’s 30th anniversary on March 31, 2021.” [Editor’s Note: Why another “limited” digital release, Nintendo?]

Additionally, a 30th Anniversary physical edition will be available for $49.99. The package will include a download code for the game itself, a non-working replica of the classic game in NES cartridge form with matching box and manual, a 222-page hardcover artbook (!), a fold out map, and a Nintendo Power mini art piece. See this fancy package and first English screenshots below, and learn more on our game hub and the Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light official site.
