NIS America and Falcom have unveiled a new trailer for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, the upcoming continuation of the long-running Ys franchise where perennial protagonist Adol Christin must contend with the consequences of his adventures, within the prison city of Balduq where enemies, friends, and intrigue lie in spades. Check out the trailer, sourced via the official PlayStation YouTube channel, for the title below!
As an accompaniment to the previously-released character trailer, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox looks to put Adol into the position of a fugitive. His call to adventure is the need to break a curse placed upon his shoulders with the help of allies gained along the adventure, revolving around the prison found within Balduq itself, where imperialism and classism seem laced into the people and cobblestones.
As it stands, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox looks to infuse the Ys franchise with a more mature, complicated setting and story, furthering the story of Adol Christin all the while for veteran and new players to the franchise. The title is set to launch on PlayStation 4 in North America on February 2nd, 2021, in Europe on February 5th, and in the Oceania region on February 12th. The Switch and PC releases are set to follow in summer 2021.
