Idola: Phantasy Star Saga, a mobile tie-in game to the revered franchise, finally arrived in the West toward the tail end of last year after a full two years in Japan. Now that fans in Europe and North America have had some time to sink their fingertips (and potentially their wallets) into the Gacha-style turn-based RPG, the hit MMO Phantasy Star Online 2 is offering a suitable collaboration event in which players can suit up in various suits based upon Idola characters. Call it in-universe cosplay, I suppose.

There’s more to this crossover than meets the eye, however, including brand new forging materials and a collection of fresh emotes. Wink like Anna Marie to impress that one and only friend of yours who will appreciate it.

If you’ve been wondering what all the fuss is about, and why so many fans were upset that it took bloody forever to come overseas, you can check out Phantasy Star Online 2 on PC and Xbox One today. I wouldn’t recommend starting your Phantasy Star journey with Idola: Phantasy Star Saga, but hey, it’s available on iOS and Android.

RPGFan will proudly continue to post about Phantasy Star whenever we can, because some of us are old and it’s mandatory that younger folks discover one of the best sci-fi RPG series ever made.
