Are you a fan of Souls-likes? Does your gaming joy extend to Metroidvanias? Does the term “cosmic horror” fill you with not just fright but equal parts delight? Vigil: The Longest Night is all three of those things, and you can quote me on that because Taiwan-based studio Glass Heart Games said it themselves. Well, I guess that means you should quote them instead. Technicalities aside, present players and newcomers alike will be glad to know that Vigil is getting a hearty update this week at the exemplary cost of absolutely free.
Curious as to what you’ll find when the “Bounty of the Night” update goes live on February 3rd at 10 a.m. PST? According to a press release from Glass Heart Games, your answer is as follows!
• An improved map of Maye. Now the map shows hidden areas Leila has already discovered and shows interior areas as well!
• Over 50 new items and equipment, including 11 new weapons and special attacks.
• More documents and stories to discover. What good is it to save the town from horror beyond human imagination if Leila does not know who they are?
• A rebalancing of the game. Swords and axes are now stronger, but so are the bosses and tougher enemies.
“What good is it to save the town from horror beyond human imagination if Leila does not know who they are?” Now that’s one loaded philosophical query.
Vigil: The Longest Night is out now on Windows and Nintendo Switch. RPGFan will keep you in the loop with all due vigilance as future updates are announced.
