BioWare Cancels Anthem NEXT and Ends Ongoing Development

After its infamously poor launch two years ago, Anthem fans have been patiently waiting for the anticipated Anthem NEXT update to breathe new life into the game. Sadly, executive producer Christian Dailey announced that Anthem‘s ongoing development has ended, and Anthem NEXT is cancelled. While the development team has discussed many changes to the game over the last couple of years such as a complete skill tree overhaul, it seems that BioWare won’t be releasing those changes.

Fans of Anthem can rest assured that the game will at least continue to be supported as it exists today but shouldn’t expect any new content in the future. Dailey noted that Anthem NEXT’s cancelation is in part to support the development of other BioWare games, including the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect titles, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
