Dance Along to Lost Judgment’s Opening Cinematic

Yagami looking rough in Lost Judgment

It’s gorgeous. It’s moody. It’s vibrant yet grim. And someone looks forlorn whilst holding a basketball. It can be but one thing: the opening cinematic for Lost Judgment.

Featuring the key music theme “Rasen” by jon-YAKITORY feat. Ado — I swear to you those are the exact words involved here — the cinematic does an excellent job reminding us that the Judgment games aren’t quite so… ecstatic as their Yakuza parents. The first game’s penchant for telling darker tales looks likely to return here.

It’s worth the reminder, by the by, that Lost Judgment will continue the beat-’em-up approach to the overarching Yakuza franchise that has long since been a staple. Last year’s Yakuza: Like a Dragon pulled something of a 180, swapping over to traditional turn-based combat. Sega’s plan is to maintain Like a Dragon‘s shift going forward with the mainline series while keeping things action-based with the Judgment spinoffs. Sounds like a happy medium to me.

Lost Judgment launches globally on September 24th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series. RPGFan’s staff may spontaneously combust with glee on that appointed day.

Survivors will let you know what we think.
