Rune Factory 5 Gets March 2022 Release Date in North America

Ready your hoes and sharpen your swords, because the latest entry in the Rune Factory series, Rune Factory 5, is on the horizon! XSEED Games and Marvelous will be bringing the game to Nintendo Switch on March 22nd, 2022.

Like its predecessors, Rune Factory 5 is a farming sim game combined with a more traditional action RPG, where players join a group of rangers called SEED (no relation to Squall and company, I’m told). Players will assist villagers, fight monsters, and embark on adventures on behalf of SEED, all while growing crops and participating in other leisure activities as part of their new life in the village. 

Of course, all work and no play makes SEEDs dull… people. Players can elect to woo one of the eligible bachelors or bachelorettes in the game, and in a first for the series, you’ll be able to do so regardless of gender. You can read all about how XSEED was able to accomplish this milestone (which was not present in the original Japanese release, but is coming in an update later) in their latest localization blog.

Key features:
• Adventure Awaits – Saddle a monster mount and head out into the vast, vibrant wilderness to explore tranquil forests, ancient ruins, and even the inside of a volcano!
• Gardener Guardian – Choose from seven weapon types and fight alongside up to three companions, then swap to farm tools to grow a wide variety of crops with monster farmhands.
• Never A Dull Moment – Compete in cooking, crafting, and fishing contests or invite a sweetheart to join you for stargazing and flower-viewing during one of Rigbarth’s many seasonal festivals.
• Find Your Special Someone – Date one of twelve eligible marriage candidates, learn more about them by completing their unique storyline, then pop the question and start a family!
